Weirdest game ever?(Review From Amazon) | General Comments: Okay, so the Japanese have given us some weird games in the past, and perhaps this isn't the weirdest, but it's definitely a shining star in the field.
It's also incredibly simple: roll a ball around, things stick to it, ball gets bigger, bigger things stick to it.
Music - great great great soundtrack. The songs will be stuck in your head, possibly at awkward times (at work, during the throes of passion, at a sibling's wedding, funerals, etc...).
Game play - a few people say it's redundant, and it is, but for some reason most people never tire of it. The challenge varies by level, and is never ridiculously hard, but allows you to challenge yourself if the level isn't enough.
Graphics - colorful and playful - this game was meant for children and probably for pot-heads, not for "realism in graphics" snobs.
Final words: Play it. It WILL make you happy.
Funnies for existing Katamari fans:

I can't be sad when I play this game.(Review From Amazon) | General Comments: Seriously, it's like taking a big happy pill of awesome. The opening credits alone are enough to make you think you're on some strange drug trip: a chorus of ducks announce the heavenly arrival of the King of All Cosmos, who appears in all his (ahem) massive glory, followed by a dancing troupe of pandas who pose like Grateful Dead Bears. The King of All Cosmos rocks out on his guitar for you before driving off into the sunset in his pink retro Cadillac, complete with adoring wife and tiny son on the hood ornament.
All of this in about a minute and a half--that alone is worth the price.
The game itself is weird, but very easy to pick up and not really stressful. Like the Engrish lyrics tell you: Don't worry. Do your best. I've personally found that the levels where the main theme (Katamari on the Rock) plays are the easiest because it's so upbeat, but each new level has something new to offer and can never be played the same way twice.
You'll have that theme song stuck in your head for days, but it brings a comforting sense of "Who cares?!" to everyday problems. |

Like nothing I've ever played before... A true PS2 gem!(Review From Amazon) | General Comments: In Katamari Damacy, the drunken King of All Cosmos accidentally destroys all the stars in the sky... Even the Moon! So like the unreliable father he is, he sends his pint-sized son, the Prince of All Cosmos, to replace all the stars in the sky. How you ask? Why, by rolling up everyone and everything on Earth into a colossal katamari ball which the King will transform into a star, of course!
Katamari Damacy is a simple, yet extraordinarily fun game with unique graphics, a wacky sense of humor, and a fantastic soundtrack! Buy this game while you still can! |

Fun for the Whole Family!(Review From Amazon) | General Comments: Katamari Damacy is fun and challenging for kids and adults. The tasks vary from meeting specific content goals to speed challenges to maximum size tests. Some tasks will be a favorite for the younger players and others will test the skills even the most accomplished game-playing adults. The concept is easy enough for a 4 year old to understand, but still engaging (almost addictive) for adults. Roll, roll, roll! |
