Thoroughly Emersive(Review From Amazon) | General Comments: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion made me into an instant gamer.
I bought this game on a whim when I bought my PS3, figuring 'Well, it would be silly not to get a game for this thing, even though I'm mostly going to watch DVDs'. Ha! I've spent probably fifty hours playing Oblivion in just a few weeks, but watched only two or three DVDs.
Gameplay is completely emersive. Beautiful graphics and sound, including the alternately gallant and creepy music add greatly to the experience. Fireflies and butterflies float by, steam briefly obscures your vision, glare from reflections dazzles your eyes, and birds sing overhead.
Although I'm a total klutz during fights (I always get the 'look' button way off center so I'm waving my sword at the clouds while a goblin hacks at my knees) with practice I can muddle through. Figuring out the best way to beat certain opponents given my limited skills is part of the challenge and fun.
Hours spent playing this game go by in the blink of an eye. I highly recommend this game, but before you start be sure you've watered the plants, paid your bills, and eaten dinner. You won't want to walk away. |
